About Us

The idea for The Novel Tree was born in my mind in September of 2007. I was on my way to pick up my daughter from volleyball practice. I was listening to a U2 song, which usually makes me feel creative. I was thinking about writing and creating. I have always wanted to write a book, but have never gotten very far. Suddenly this idea struck me. What if I started a book and let other people add on to it? What if hundreds of people wrote one single book? Would it work? Would people want to participate? I could intentionally keep the submission size small so I could make sure the story keeps going in the right direction.  And just like that, the idea was born.

I ran the idea by some friends and family and it was very well received. I contacted some web developers and settled on Online Connexions to design it. The site started running in March of 2008.

Personal Bio:

So who is the person behind all this? My name is Dave. I live near Flint, MI. I have been married for almost 20 years to the same woman. I have four awesome children. I have held a variety of careers in my life: pizza maker, pest control technician, truck driver, garbage man, licensed financial sales rep, customer service rep, floral delivery person, corn picker, pastor, warehouse employee, personal banker and now an internet entrepreneur (and I just discovered I don't know how to spell entrepreneur).

I have always loved stories. When I was a child, I would invite friends over. Later in the day, my mother would find them playing by themselves. I would be off in my room reading the latest Hardy Boys book.

The personal banker job is the one that I hold currently but I am hoping this will become my full time job.
