The Novel Tree Rules

  1. Each submission needs to be between 50-1000 words.
  2. Keep each submission non-explicit. (violence, language, romantic encounters) There are plenty of places on the web where people can engage in those extremes. This is not one of them.
  3. The Novel Tree owns each entry and can edit or change them as needed as the story requires.

Explanation Of How The Novel Writing Process Works

We started with one story, but now we have multiple stories being written at once. Each story includes a "plot arc". Authors do NOT have to conform to the proposed arc. It is merely there as a suggestion, if the story starts to move in a better direction, that's great.

Here is a blow-by-blow description of how the site will work:

  1. Read the story.
  2. Decide which direction YOU think the story should go.
  3. Write your part of the story and submit it. Remember to keep it between 50-1000 words.
  4. We will read all submissions and pick the best one, in our eyes. We will NOT discard entries due to poor grammar or spelling.
  5. We have the right to edit the winning entry.
  6. The winning entry will be posted at the end of the submission period.
  7. The length of the submission period will be dependent on how many submissions are being made. If a story is getting multiple submissions a week, the story will be added to weekly, if not, the story will not be added to until a submission is put in that will enhance the story.

The new submission period will start immediately after the posting.
